weekend

I will add to the blog just to let you know I am still kicking. I am busy preparing my classes these days. The more I learn, the more I realize what I do not know so am constantly revising my plan. I know it is good to revise but not good time management. Maybe I will figure out how to do both. I am finally realizing that the ESL class I teach is about the language, not about what they are saying. I get caught up in what they are telling me because it is so interesting and revealing that I forget I am supposed to be listening for sentence structure and word usage. I wonder if they notice?
The weather is beautiful today, 75 degrees, clear (with blue sky showing) and breezy. We will go out for a walk or ride this afternoon. We went out to dinner last night at a "western" restuarant whose name was Western Restuarant. I had macaroni and cheese and a
"fresh salad" which was iceburg lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes and corn. They both were good after I got used to the taste of chinese cheese. James and Nadia had a plate full of meat, one of beef and one of chicken, and their side salads. We noticed as we were leaving that the Chinese people order alot of the western dishes and put them all in the middle of the table and share as they do at chinese restuarants. I enjoyed for a change having my own plate of food to eat at my leisure. Growing up in a big family I guess it makes me nervous eating slowly at a shared meal thinking it will run out.

We are gradually making more friends and really enjoying them. Hopefully next year we will have more time for relationships with Chinese people and hopefully we will know the language better!
