New Year 2009 Continued

I keep forgetting to post pictures in reverse order. So here are some photos from last night - New Years Eve. Everyone said it was great to just laugh last night. And we did a lot of that. We ate dessert and then played this game which had everyone in stitches. The first step is to write 3, 4 or 5 names on small pieces of paper. Once everyone has done that they are put in a hat (or a box). The names can be anyone: people present, people we know, people in the news, people from history, people from the movies, famous people. fictitious people - any person living, dead, or invented. Once the names have been collected the game begins. There are 3 stages. During the first stage each person gets one minute to get her or his team mates to say as many of the names as possible. Every time some says the particular name you're trying to get them to guess the team gets a point. You can say anything to get your team mates to say the name except the words on the paper. Once everyone has had a turn, the team with the most points wins that round. During the second round all the names are put back in the hat and the same process goes on except that now the person looking at the paper can only use 3 words to get people to guess the name. Scoring is the same. In the third round the person on the hot seat can only use one word to get people to guess the name. The second and third rounds were hilarious in large part because of the people who were playing and their natural senses of humor.
We had people from the west, the middle east, and China present. It was a great evening.
Today we rode our bike around to several stores getting supplies for the weekend.
We stopped at a coffee shop and talked about life, love, work and our hopes for the coming year. It was a great thing to do on New Year's Day. I was reluctant but Linda persisted and I came around and it was actually a very good experience.
Tonight we had Wes and Pat up for pizza. I've actually gotten pretty good at crust and sauce thanks to the world wide web recipes are easy to get. I have found an easy pizza crust recipe and a great and simple sauce recipe. We had a nice visit. As we were beginning to clean up and gather dishes we found out we had no water so we sat and visited a while longer. Right after Wes and Pat left we got water back so we could clean up. Isn't life grand.
