getting from springfield to spokane

Our adventures began before we arrived in China. We decided to leave on Wednesday from Springfield about 1 Pm so we could drive to Sioux City, IA and leave from there on Thursday morning. However I (James) woke up Wed. morning with a tooth ache. By early afternoon I decided I should go to the dentist. I found out I have an abscess on a tooth that had a root canal about 25 years ago. My dentist could not work on it so he gave me a prescription for antibiotics and we finally got on the road about 4 PM. By the time we got to Kansas City it was snowing and traffic had slowed way down. By the time we got to the I435 and I29 to head north, I29 was closed because 2 tractor trailers had tipped over and blocked the northbound lanes. We found a way around on some side highways (very slow going) to get around the blockage. We started north on I29 and continued driving through the snow until we got to Rock Port about 1130 PM. We got going Thursday morning and had pretty smooth going all day until we got to the Black Hills about 700PM. We ran into snow again in the Black Hills and drove through snow and blowing snow until they closed I90 at Sundance, Wyoming . Sundance is about 30 miles outside the Black Hills. That was about 100 miles short of where we hoped to get. We spent the night at a nice motel in Sundance. After breakfast we started out again. I90 had reopened but it was snowing and blowing. traffic was moving pretty well in one lane but every time someone passed us we were temporarily in white out conditions. This continued until we got to Sheridan, Wyoming. Then it almost magically stopped snowing, the roads cleared and we had pretty smooth sailing all the way to Missoula, Montana. We're here now until Monday when we'll go to Couer'd Alene, Idaho. We have one more drive over mountain passes. We are going to make this drive during daylight hours.
Oh, yes, my tooth. We emailed our American contact in Tianjin and asked about the possibility of getting dental work done in China. He assured us that he uses a dentist in China. He made an appointment for me when we get to Tianjin. I'll let you know how that turns out.
