We went back to the E-Mart yesterday. We got there just fine but then wound up wandering around trying to find the floor that is the grocery store for about 15 minutes. E-Mart is 3 floors of shopping. The first floor is specialty shops the second floor is groceries and household items and the third floor is a different variety of household items, clothes and small appliances. There are flat escalators between floor that are really like long moving ramps. Anyway we got stuck on the ramps and couldn't figure out how to get into the store so we wandered up and down the ramps a few times before we actually got in the grocery part of the store. Then after we shopped and paid we realized we needed a couple of things from the third floor but we couldn't enter that store with all our bags from the second floor. When going to E-Mart and other large department stores I think we have to start shopping on the top floor and check out on a lower floor. There are only checkouts when you are ready to leave the store and movement is pretty much in one direction once you have stuff to buy. The store security system here does not allow bringing any bags of "stuff" from outside the store. There are free lockers out each level of the store so you can put previous purchases in the lockers before entering the store. There are security people at each exit to make sure you are leaving with a receipt for the items purchased.
Anyway, we are adjusting to the way things are done in China. Today we're going to a walking street - walking and shopping street - no motor traffic - to shop for clothes and other items.
We're still looking for a web cam.
