school days

I haven't added a post for awhile and have been thinking about adding a story one of my students wrote. She is a second year nursing student who in English class was asked to write a story about her childhood. Here it is:
When I was a little girl, I was very careless. It's a troublesome problem. I always did many unnecessary things because of the e carelessness. It was a very interesting thing. Every time recalled it, I laughed myself.
It occurred when I was a kindergartner. One day, the teacher teached us the figures. Before she finished the class, she told us we have to write every figure ten times as our homework. But I didn't listen to her carefully. So I thought I should write one figure for ten lines. There are ten squares in one line. So I must write every figure one hundred times. Totally, I should write one thousand figures. You will think it is a very easy task for a student. But as a kindergartner this task is too difficult to finish. It was a nightmare for me at that time. When my mother picked up me, I told her my homework. She was amazed and she can't believe that. But I said it undoubted. So she believed that and thought my teacher is to strictly. I began to write after the dinner. I didn't waste one minute. But when I finished the figure six, I felt sleepy. I thought it is endless. I can't finished it. It is too difficult! So I began to cry. My mother persuaded me to give up. But I didn't. I insisted on finishing it. I still wrote, wrote, wrote. When I have accomplished the homework, it was midnight. Next day, my mother asked my teacher about the crazy homework. My teacher laugh. I realized I make a stupid mistake.
After that thing, I realized that carefulness is very important. I must careful when I did any things.

This is an example of the difference in American students and Chinese students. They are used to much more hardship than we are and just seem to do it. Amazing.
