Hong Kong

After a month off the blog it's hard to get back on especially because I feel busier right now than I have for a long time. At least I can put a few pictures of Hong Kong up and try to do some more tomorrow afternoon. Hong Kong is crowded. I know that's surprising coming from someone who lives in a city of 13,000,000. But the Island of Hong Kong is crowded. We were really only there for a few hours but it was enough to give me that impression.

We were in Hong Kong for a Baha'i gathering of foreign Baha'is who live in China so we really didn't do much sightseeing but we did do some shopping, we did take a ferry across to the island of Hong Kong and we did walk around a bit and we did find a great Mexican restuarant with chips and salsa too and guacomale and we did visit with Jeremy's brother and his wife. So here are a few photos of Hong Kong. Too bad it was hazy that day. We seem to travel to places when it is hazy. I can't do anything about that.
The Hong Kong skyline is very distinctive. Lots of very tall buildings. The IFC building is the tallest of the group. It is one of the tallest buildings in the world.
The top 2 photos are of a famous shopping area in the area of Hong Kong that is on the mainland. I believe it is called Kowloon. It is apparently a shoppers paradise but it looked pretty expensive to me. Linda did a little shopping there. Yes, pretty expensive, but good bargains and you don't actually have to bargain with them. Then we took a ferry across Victoria Harbor to Hong Kong. It was fun. I've never taken a ferry before. It's only 10 minutes and doesn't cost much. Then we walked around, had lunch at a Mexican restaurant - something that we can't do in Tianjin, walked some more, then took the ferry back and had to hurry a little to get back in time to catch the bus to go to our conference.
